Comen\u00e7a amb dos dibuixos -un principi fonamental de la pr\u00e0ctica de Harvey- exposats darrere del taulell de la recepci\u00f3. Aquestes obres sobre paper, titulades Estas obras\u00a0 <\/span>Sh\u24b6dows B444 Babylon<\/span><\/i> i <\/span>W\/h\/\u24ba\/n D\\r\\e\\a\\m\\i\\n\\g<\/span><\/i>, van ser produ\u00efdes com a part d\u2019una s\u00e8rie m\u00e9s \u00e0mplia en el per\u00edode previ a la inauguraci\u00f3, i per a l\u2019artista indiquen el to de la resta de l\u2019exposici\u00f3. La seva seva imatgeria, llenguatge i simbolisme poden utilitzar-se com a un visor a trav\u00e9s del qual mirar la resta de l\u2019exposici\u00f3.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nA continuaci\u00f3, <\/span>Oj\u23ff Rojo LEVELLEVEL<\/span><\/i>, se situa en el primer espai principal de l'exposici\u00f3, una instal\u00b7laci\u00f3 lum\u00ednica formada per dotze anivellis l\u00e0ser instal\u00b7lats en una l\u00ednia horitzontal aproximadament alineada amb l'altura del cor de l'artista i col\u00b7locats verticalment els uns amb els altres per a crear una quadr\u00edcula. Aquests l\u00e0sers en concret s'utilitzen en la construcci\u00f3 per a assegurar l\u00ednies rectes consistents, per\u00f2 la tecnologia t\u00e9 els seus or\u00edgens en l'\u00fas militar i per a l'artista apunten tant a la precisi\u00f3 com a la vigil\u00e0ncia.<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nEn passar a la galeria del fons, hi ha una l\u00ednia de petites escultures i objectes trobats emmarcada per dos petits dibuixos a llapis emmarcats en Juglans nigra (nou negra). Aquests components estan disposats junts per a formar l'obra singular <\/span>R\u24b6h\u24b6b\u2019s Scarlet Chord<\/span><\/i>, i penjats a la mateixa altura que la l\u00ednia l\u00e0ser horitzontal de la sala anterior. La majoria dels objectes estan tallats en cera vermella industrial, el material derivat del sacrifici utilitzat en l'emmotllament a la cera perduda, una t\u00e8cnica emprada per artistes des de fa m\u00e9s de 3000 anys. La forma original que es fondr\u00e0 \u00e9s fabricada i despr\u00e9s fosa per a ser substitu\u00efda per bronze o un altre material amb un valor significativament major que la pr\u00f2pia cera. L'obra tamb\u00e9 inclou diverses peces de fusta, tallades a partir de branques senceres d'arbres, una de les quals \u00e9s Ilex Opaca (Hollywood), una fusta dura perenne que pertany a l'ecologia aut\u00f2ctona de la regi\u00f3 de l'artista i guarda en el seu nom una resson\u00e0ncia cultural amb la ind\u00fastria cinematogr\u00e0fica. Acompanyant l'obra mural est\u00e0 <\/span>Metro\/Nomos<\/span><\/i>, un metr\u00f2nom de fusta d'imitaci\u00f3 blau i un altre vermell col\u00b7locats un al costat de l'altre. Els metr\u00f2noms produeixen un ritme seq\u00fcencial que es repeteix. Encara que estan ajustats als seus propis temps, hi ha moments en els quals se sincronitzen. Junts fan en el so el que els l\u00e0sers fan en l'espai.<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nL'exposici\u00f3 s'est\u00e9n fins al pati, on un \u00fanic globus vermell est\u00e0 lligat al tanc blau d'heli que l'omple di\u00e0riament. Per a l'artista, la materialitat d'aquesta pe\u00e7a -i de fet en totes les peces- cont\u00e9 en si mateixa un simbolisme conceptual. Su imaginer\u00eda, lenguaje y simbolismo pueden utilizarse como un visor a trav\u00e9s del cual mirar el resto de la exposici\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nA continuaci\u00f3n, <\/span>Oj\u23ff Rojo LEVELLEVEL<\/span><\/i>, se sit\u00faa en el primer espacio principal de la exposici\u00f3n, una instalaci\u00f3n lum\u00ednica formada por doce niveles l\u00e1ser instalados en una l\u00ednea horizontal aproximadamente alineada con la altura del coraz\u00f3n del artista y colocados verticalmente unos con otros para crear una cuadr\u00edcula. Estos l\u00e1seres en concreto se utilizan en la construcci\u00f3n para asegurar l\u00edneas rectas consistentes, pero la tecnolog\u00eda tiene sus or\u00edgenes en el uso militar y para el artista apuntan tanto a la precisi\u00f3n como a la vigilancia.<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nAl pasar a la galer\u00eda del fondo, hay una l\u00ednea de peque\u00f1as esculturas y objetos encontrados enmarcada por dos peque\u00f1os dibujos a l\u00e1piz enmarcados en Juglans nigra (nuez negra). Estos componentes est\u00e1n dispuestos juntos para formar la obra singular <\/span>R\u24b6h\u24b6b\u2019s Scarlet Chord<\/span><\/i>, y colgados a la misma altura que la l\u00ednea l\u00e1ser horizontal de la sala anterior. La mayor\u00eda de los objetos est\u00e1n tallados en cera roja industrial, el material derivado del sacrificio utilizado en el moldeo a la cera perdida, una t\u00e9cnica empleada por artistas desde hace m\u00e1s de 3000 a\u00f1os. La forma original que se va a fundir es fabricada y luego derretida para ser sustituida por bronce u otro material con un valor significativamente mayor que la propia cera. La obra tambi\u00e9n incluye varias piezas de madera, talladas a partir de ramas enteras de \u00e1rboles, una de las cuales es Ilex Opaca (Hollywood), una madera dura perenne que pertenece a la ecolog\u00eda aut\u00f3ctona de la regi\u00f3n del artista y guarda en su nombre una resonancia cultural con la industria cinematogr\u00e1fica. Acompa\u00f1ando la obra mural est\u00e1 <\/span>Metro\/Nomos<\/span><\/i>, un metr\u00f3nomo de madera de imitaci\u00f3n azul y otro rojo colocados uno al lado del otro. Los metr\u00f3nomos producen un ritmo secuencial que se repite. Aunque est\u00e1n ajustados a sus propios tiempos, hay momentos en los que se sincronizan. Para el artista, la materialidad de esta pieza -y de hecho en todas las piezas- contiene en s\u00ed misma un simbolismo conceptual. El helio es un material que tiene la voluntad de escapar de nuestra atm\u00f3sfera terrestre, constantemente elev\u00e1ndose fuera de este mundo y hacia el cielo. <\/span>","desc_en":"Harry Gould Harvey IV:<\/b> LEVEL LEVEL<\/span><\/i>\r\n\r\n09.05 - 08.07.2024<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nLEVEL LEVEL <\/span><\/i>is a solo exhibition by Harry Gould Harvey IV developed in response to the spatial configuration of the gallery. It begins with two drawings \u2013 a central tenet of Harvey\u2019s practice \u2013\u00a0 displayed behind the reception desk. These works on paper, entitled <\/span>Sh\u24b6dows B444 Babylon<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>W\/h\/\u24ba\/n D\\r\\e\\a\\m\\i\\n\\g<\/span><\/i>, were produced as part of a larger series in the lead up to the opening, and for the artist set the tone for the rest of the exhibition. Their imagery, language and symbolism can be used as a viewfinder through which to look at the rest of the show.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nFollowing on, <\/span>Oj\u23ff Rojo LEVELLEVEL<\/span><\/i>, is positioned in the first main exhibition space, a light installation consisting of twelve laser levels installed in a horizontal line roughly aligned to the height of the artist\u2019s heart and positioned vertically with one another to create a grid. These particular lasers are used in construction to secure consistent straight lines, but the technology has its origins in military use and for the artist they point to both precision and surveillance.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nMoving into the back gallery, there is a line of small sculptures and found objects bookended by two small pencil drawings framed in Juglans nigra (black walnut). These components are arranged together to form the singular work <\/span>R\u24b6h\u24b6b\u2019s Scarlet Chord<\/span><\/i>, and hung at the same height as the horizontal laser line from the previous room. The majority of the objects are carved industrial red wax, the sacrificial byproduct\u00a0 material used in lost wax casting, a technique used by artists for 3000+ years. The original form to be cast is made and then melted out to be replaced by bronze or another metal with significantly more value than the wax itself. The work also includes several pieces of wood, carved down from full tree limbs, one of which is Ilex Opaca (Hollywood), an evergreen hardwood that pertains to the native ecology of the artist's region and holds in its name a cultural resonance to the film industry. Accompanying the wall work is <\/span>Metro\/Nomos<\/span><\/i>, one blue and one red faux wood metronome positioned side by side. The metronomes produce a sequential beat which repeats. While they are set to their own timings there are moments where they sync. Together they do in sound what the lasers do in space.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe exhibition extends onto the patio where a single red balloon is tied to the blue helium tank that fills it daily. For the artist the materiality of\u00a0 this piece - and in fact in all of the pieces - contains in itself a conceptual symbolism.
