Pertanyen a dues generacions diferents (Matisse va n\u00e9ixer l'any 1869, i Mir\u00f3, el 1893). Generalment se'ls associa a entorns art\u00edstics diferents (el fauvisme en el cas de Matisse i el surrealisme en el de Mir\u00f3) i a plantejaments est\u00e8tics tamb\u00e9 diferents (l'harmonia \u00abdecorativa\u00bb en el cas de Matisse i l'estranyesa inquietant en el de Mir\u00f3).
