La mostra indaga en la densitat de la investigaci\u00f3 art\u00edstica de Motta, caracteritzada pel rigor implacable davant de l\u2019arxiu i per interrogar les seves viol\u00e8ncies, silenciaments i desitjos. L\u2019obra de Motta atempta contra la imposici\u00f3 de les epistemologies euroc\u00e8ntriques, des de la conquesta i el per\u00edode colonial a Am\u00e8rica fins a les seves propagacions en el present, tenint en compte el llegat de la religi\u00f3 com a vehicle perpetrador i pertorbador de colonialitat.\r\n\r\nLa traject\u00f2ria art\u00edstica de Motta va comen\u00e7ar quan ell era molt jove, a finals dels anys noranta, poc abans que emigr\u00e9s i s\u2019establ\u00eds a Nova York. La mostra presta una atenci\u00f3 especial al comprom\u00eds de l\u2019artista amb les hist\u00f2ries pol\u00edtiques i els moviments socials \u2013i, m\u00e9s espec\u00edficament, amb la pol\u00edtica de la sexualitat i el g\u00e8nere, aix\u00ed com amb l\u2019anomenada crisi del VIH o sida\u2013 i les seves derives contempor\u00e0nies sobre la fragilitat dels cossos. La muestra presta especial atenci\u00f3n al compromiso del artista con las historias pol\u00edticas y movimientos sociales -y m\u00e1s espec\u00edficamente con la pol\u00edtica de la sexualidad y el g\u00e9nero, y la llamada crisis del VIH\/sida\u2013 y sus derivas contempor\u00e1neas sobre la fragilidad de los cuerpos. La noci\u00f3n de cuerpo colectivo y la atenci\u00f3n del artista a la pol\u00edtica del cuidado es fundamental en la representaci\u00f3n, tanto de forma individual o auto-representacional como en las diversas formas de colaboraci\u00f3n que el artista estipula en sus diversos proyectos a lo largo de los a\u00f1os.","desc_en":"The exhibition <em>Pleas of Resistance<\/em> traverses more than twenty-five years of practice by the artist <b>Carlos Motta<\/b>, who consistently engages with the body and sexual dissidence as a terrain of experimentation and political contestation.\r\n\r\nHis early explorations of photographic self-portraiture are shown alongside his most recent performances and video installations. The exhibition explores the magnitude of Motta\u2019s artistic research and its implacable rigor in relation to the archive, interrogating its violence, its silencing and its desires. Motta\u2019s work challenges the imposition of Eurocentric epistemologies \u2013 from the time of the conquest and colonial period in the Americas to the present day \u2013 and considers the legacy of religion as a perpetrator and disturbing vehicle of coloniality.\r\n\r\nMotta initiated his artistic trajectory at a young age, in the late 1990s, shortly before emigrating to New York and settling there. The exhibition pays close attention to the artist\u2019s engagement with political histories and social movements \u2013 specifically the politics of sexuality and gender and the HIV\/Aids epidemic \u2013 and their contemporary manifestations on the fragility of bodies.
