Presentem la nova exposici\u00f3 individual de Rom\u00e1n de Castro a Piramid\u00f3n, fruit de la resid\u00e8ncia de dos mesos que va realitzar amb nosaltres gr\u00e0cies al premi de resid\u00e8ncia i adquisici\u00f3<\/strong> que li vam atorgar a Can Artfair.<\/p>\r\n

A Un impulso de \u00faltimo momento<\/em>, Rom\u00e1n estableix a les seves peces una relaci\u00f3 entre CDMX i Barcelona a trav\u00e9s dels rajols que apareixen en els seus interiors. L\u2019artista connecta, d\u2019una manera m\u00e9s emocional que mim\u00e8tica, \u201cla talavera mexicana\u201d amb \u201cla rajola modernista\u201d, separades per quil\u00f2metres per\u00f2 ambdues amb origen a la pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e8rica. El seu inter\u00e8s pels rajols remet tamb\u00e9 a Pedro Almod\u00f3var, referent \u201cpict\u00f2ric\u201d per a l\u2019artista, amb qui comparteix aquesta c\u00e0rrega est\u00e8tica que generen els colors en l\u2019entorn i com influeixen en la creaci\u00f3 de l\u2019atmosfera.<\/p>\r\n

En les seves obres, els objectes quotidians parlen a trav\u00e9s del missatge escrit i de la seva pr\u00f2pia forma, ja que actuen com a testimonis i contenidors de mem\u00f2ria. Els personatges, per la seva banda, amaguen el rostre i mantenen la identitat an\u00f2nima. Aquesta f\u00f3rmula, juntament amb els missatges po\u00e8tics i inconclusos, deixa en cada pe\u00e7a un relat susp\u00e8s que interpel\u00b7la el propi espectador.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cPer a Rom\u00e1n, la paraula (gaireb\u00e9) sempre va abans que la pintura, per\u00f2 poc abans d\u2019abandonar la seva resid\u00e8ncia a Piramid\u00f3n tenia al seu estudi una pe\u00e7a amb un personatge subjectant una nota en blanc, sense missatge. Davant la meva sorpresa, li vaig preguntar: \u00abI aix\u00f2 qu\u00e8 ser\u00e0, un impulso de \u00faltimo momento<\/em>?\u00bb.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

We present the new solo exhibition by Rom\u00e1n de Castro at Piramid\u00f3n, the result of the two-month residency he carried out with us thanks to the residency and acquisition award<\/strong> we granted him at Can Artfair.<\/p>\r\n

In Un impulso de \u00faltimo momento<\/em>, Rom\u00e1n establishes in his works a relationship between CDMX and Barcelona through the tiles that appear in his interiors. The artist connects, in a way that is more emotional than mimetic, \u201cMexican talavera\u201d with \u201cmodernista tilework\u201d, separated by kilometres yet both originating from the Iberian Peninsula. His interest in tiles also recalls Pedro Almod\u00f3var, a \u201cpictorial\u201d reference for the artist, with whom he shares that aesthetic charge generated by colour in the environment and how it contributes to the creation of atmosphere.<\/p>\r\n

In his works, everyday objects speak through written messages and through their very form, acting as witnesses and containers of memory. The characters, for their part, hide their faces and maintain an anonymous identity. This formula, together with poetic and unfinished messages, leaves in each piece a suspended narrative that calls upon the viewer.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cFor Rom\u00e1n, the word (almost) always comes before painting, but shortly before leaving his residency at Piramid\u00f3n he had in his studio a work featuring a character holding a blank note, with no message. Surprised, I asked him: \u2018And what will this be, un impulso de \u00faltimo momento<\/em>?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\r\n
