Cine papel, cine palabra, cine por otros medios, cine expandido, cine virtual. \u00c9rik Bullot lleva muchos a\u00f1os interrogando las transformaciones de un arte inestable y en constante metamorfosis, de los juguetes \u00f3pticos al cambio radical que ha significado el establecimiento definitivo de lo digital.\r\n\r\n\u00bfQu\u00e9 es hoy el cine? Si ha dejado de ser esa huella de luz impresa en un soporte fotoqu\u00edmico, si sus usos y funciones han mutado definitivamente, si las im\u00e1genes han estallado en un mar de pantallas que van del tel\u00e9fono a la galer\u00eda, \u00bfes a\u00fan aquel que conocimos a lo largo del siglo xx? Descartada \u2014y superada\u2014 una muerte repetidamente anunciada, el artista y te\u00f3rico reflexiona sobre los desplazamientos, los l\u00edmites y las especificidades del cine (tecnol\u00f3gicas, sociales, est\u00e9ticas, institucionales). \u00bfHasta qu\u00e9 punto ser\u00e1 capaz de negociar las condiciones de tal metamorfosis sin negar su identidad?, se pregunta el autor de\u00a0<em>El filme y su doble<\/em>. \u00bfHasta d\u00f3nde podr\u00e1 difractarse, como la luz en los caleidoscopios?\r\n\r\nPara la exposici\u00f3n en la Filmoteca, Bullot actualiza la hip\u00f3tesis de un cine viviente o desmaterializado a trav\u00e9s de un relato po\u00e9tico y una investigaci\u00f3n rigurosamente documentada de algunas de las obsesiones o quimeras que el cine ha dejado atr\u00e1s.\r\n\r\nEl recorrido incluye dos instalaciones in\u00e9ditas en convivencia con obras de Ram\u00f3n y Cajal, August Strindberg, Vicente Huidobro, Roland Sabatier o Jakob Mohr, as\u00ed como diferentes formatos: del\u00a0<em>collage<\/em>\u00a0a la imagen en movimiento, pasando por la fotograf\u00eda, el dibujo y una serie de programas que acompa\u00f1ar\u00e1n la muestra a trav\u00e9s de proyecciones, discusiones, lecturas, una conferencia performativa. On paper, sketching out the characters of a fable that traces the visionary promises of language, from Braille to telepathy, from paroptic vision to the invention of the Theremin in the 1920s: reading with your hands, seeing with your skin, touching without contact\u2026 there you have it, a bundle of unfulfilled utopias that make up the potential archive of a possible cinema.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dreaming up a film. Imagine it separated from its original body, divorced from its inherent technology and customary devices. Paper cinema, spoken cinema, cinema by other means, expanded cinema, virtual cinema.\r\n\r\nFor many years, \u00c9rik Bullot has been questioning the transformations of an unstable and constantly metamorphosing art form, from optical toys to the radical change that has meant the definitive establishment of the digital. What is cinema today? If it is no longer an imprint of light captured on a photochemical medium, if its uses and functions have definitively mutated, if its images have burst out across a sea of screens, from phones to galleries, is it still what we have known throughout the twentieth century? Disregarding (and moving past) its repeatedly proclaimed death, the artist and theorist reflects on the developments, limits and specificities associated with cinema \u2013 technological, social, aesthetic, institutional. To what extent will it be able to negotiate the terms of such a metamorphosis without denying its identity asks the author of\u00a0<em>Le Film et son double<\/em>\u00a0[Film and its Double]. To what extent is it able to be diffracted, like the light in a kaleidoscope?\r\n\r\nIn this exhibition at the Filmoteca, Bullot updates the hypothesis of a living and dematerialised cinema by means of a poetic essay and a rigorously documented investigation of some of the obsessions and chimeras that cinema has outgrown. The proposal includes two previously unseen installations alongside works by Ram\u00f3n y Cajal, August Strindberg, Vicente Huidobro, Roland Sabatier and Jakob Mohr, as well as in different formats, spanning<em>\u00a0collage,<\/em>\u00a0the moving image, photography and illustration, plus a series of programmes that will accompany the exhibition in the form of screenings, discussions, readings and a performative conference.\r\n\r\nThe event will also mark the launch of the second volume of our\u00a0<em>Apunts de cinema<\/em>\u00a0[Notes on Cinema] series of publications, an essay in twenty-four fragments that combines a speculative exercise with scholarly research.\r\n<blockquote>\u201cBy closing our eyes, our mental cinema is projected onto the screen of our eyelids.
