Despr\u00e9s de cursar estudis de piano a Vevey (Su\u00efssa), es va traslladar a Londres a inicis de la d\u00e8cada de 1980, on va comen\u00e7ar a explorar els l\u00edmits del so i la composici\u00f3.\r\n\r\nEl 2009 va ser convidat per Michael Martinek i Fabrique Records a treballar amb l\u2019artista Kava a \u201cSeven Echoes\u201d (2010), un \u00e0lbum conceptual publicat i presentat per primera vegada en directe al museu Art Brut de Gugging, a la Baixa \u00c0ustria. All\u00e0 va con\u00e8ixer a un pioner de la m\u00fasica electr\u00f2nica, Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster, Harmonia), que m\u00e9s tard el va invitar a participar en una sessi\u00f3 en directe de BBC Radio 3 \u201cLate Junction\u201d.\r\n\r\nEl resultat d\u2019aquesta col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 va donar lloc a un altre \u00e0lbum, \u201cKing of Hearts\u201d (2012). Els anys seg\u00fcents Chaplin i Roedelius van actuar per tot el m\u00f3n: actuacions improvisades en la seva majoria amb Roedelius al piano i l\u2019electr\u00f2nica, i Chaplin amb sintetitzadors i mostres orquestrals,.\r\n\r\nL\u2019octubre de 2016, Chaplin va publicar el seu primer \u00e0lbum en solitari, \u201cJe suis le T\u00e9n\u00e9breux\u201d, en qu\u00e8 van participar Hans Joachim Roedelius, Christine Roedelius, Claudia Schumann i Judith Chema. In 2018, he released \u2018Paradise Lost\u2019 loosely based on John Milton\u2019s poem, and it featured tenor Nathan Vale and a text written and read by artist Leslie Winer.\r\n\r\nIn 2020 his third solo album \u2018M\u2019 was released, featuring guest artist Finley Quayle, Austrian musician Mira Lu Kovavs and French performer Aurelia Thierree.
