Activada per l\u2019artista indobrit\u00e0nica Sejal Parekh, la performance \u2014que funciona m\u00e9s com una confrontaci\u00f3 que no pas com una representaci\u00f3\u2014 s\u2019enfronta a les traduccions imperials err\u00f2nies, a la sordesa deliberada del poder i a la viol\u00e8ncia simb\u00f2lica que implica demanar a alg\u00fa que es repeteixi en una llengua que no \u00e9s la seva.\r\n\r\nLa proposta estableix di\u00e0legs din\u00e0mics amb diversos fen\u00f2mens de comunicaci\u00f3 no verbal, com el zikr suf\u00ed, en qu\u00e8 l\u2019al\u00e8 transporta significats que van m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 de la ra\u00f3; el cant v\u00e8dic, la pot\u00e8ncia del qual rau en la mem\u00f2ria vibracional, o el llenguatge de tambors ashanti, en qu\u00e8 el ritme expressa all\u00f2 que no es pot dir amb paraules. A m\u00e9s, la pe\u00e7a proposa una acci\u00f3 participativa basada en una versi\u00f3 d\u2019un joc infantil conegut antigament al Regne Unit com a\u00a0<i>Chinese Whispers<\/i>. Els or\u00edgens sin\u00f2fobs del nom del joc dialoguen amb altres formes de burla i exclusi\u00f3 culturals, com ara el terme grec\u00a0<i>b\u00e0rbar<\/i>, d\u2019etimologia onomatopeica, que imitava burlescament els sons de les lleng\u00fces que no eren el grec.\r\n\r\nEl\u00a0<i>Mitj\u00f3<\/i>\u00a0de T\u00e0pies ser\u00e0 activat com a dispositiu d\u2019escolta o com a testimoni a trav\u00e9s de sons de xiuxiueigs i elements semi\u00f2tics que el p\u00fablic haur\u00e0 d\u2019intentar desxifrar navegant per l\u2019espai al voltant de l\u2019escultura. En paraules de l\u2019artista, \u00abqu\u00e8 passa quan els xiuxiueigs prenen forma, volum i perman\u00e8ncia?\u00bb. El gest corporal d\u2019inclinar-se col\u00b7lectivament, intentar comprendre, escoltar activament i acceptar la incomoditat sagrada de no entendre constitueixen el nucli d\u2019aquesta coreografia espacial.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<b>Sejal Parekh<\/b>\u00a0\u00e9s una artista interdisciplin\u00e0ria que, mitjan\u00e7ant instal\u00b7lacions espec\u00edfiques per al lloc, treballs en v\u00eddeo i so, excava les topologies intricades de l\u2019<i>hiraeth<\/i>, una condici\u00f3 diasp\u00f2rica gal\u00b7lesa que transcendeix la simple nost\u00e0lgia i articula, en canvi, una reimaginaci\u00f3 radical de l\u2019habitatge espacial i cultural.\r\n\r\nA partir d\u2019una comprensi\u00f3 profunda dels sistemes de mons paral\u00b7lels on les din\u00e0miques culturals no s\u00f3n simple objecte d\u2019observaci\u00f3, sin\u00f3 que es desmantellen de manera performativa, l\u2019estrat\u00e8gia est\u00e8tica de Parekh constitueix una arqueologia fonamental del gest: recupera i transforma objectes, motius i accions performatives que hist\u00f2ricament s\u2019han utilitzat per marginalitzar i estratificar, i els transmuta en instruments matisats de refusament cr\u00edtic.\r\n\r\nSejal t\u00e9 un m\u00e0ster en Escultura pel Royal College of Art de Londres. En palabras del artista, \u00ab\u00bfqu\u00e9 ocurre cuando los susurros toman forma, volumen y permanencia?\u00bb. Activated by the Indian-British artist Sejal Parekh, the performance\u2014which functions more as a reckoning\u2014confronts imperial mistranslations, the deliberate deafness of power and the symbolic violence of asking someone to repeat themselves in a language not their own.\r\n\r\nThe dynamic dialogues with several non-verbal communication phenomena, such as: the Sufi\u00a0<i>zikr<\/i>, where breath carries meaning beyond the rational; Vedic chant, whose potency lies in vibrational memory; or Ashanti drum language, where rhythm speaks what cannot be said. Furthermore, the piece proposes a participative action, a take on a children\u2019s game previously referred to in the United Kingdom as Chinese Whispers. The Sinophobic origins of the game\u2019s title dialogues with other cultural bullyings and otherings, such as the Greek\u00a0<i>barbarian<\/i>, with an onomatopoeic etymology mocking the sounds of those who did not speak Greek.\r\n\r\nT\u00e0pies\u2019\u00a0<i>Mitj\u00f3<\/i>\u00a0[Sock] will be activated as a listening device or witness through sounds of whispers and semiotics, which the audience should attempt to decipher by navigating the space around the sculpture. In the words of the artist: \u201cWhat happens when whispers are given form, volume and permanence?\u201d The corporeal gesture of collectively leaning in, attempting to understand, actively listening and accepting the sacred discomfort of not understanding, are the core elements of this spatial choreography.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<b>Sejal Parekh<\/b>\u00a0is a cross-disciplinary artist. Through site-specific installations, video and sound work, she excavates the intricate topologies of\u00a0<i>hiraeth<\/i>, a Welsh diasporic condition that transcends mere nostalgia, articulating instead a radical reimagining of spatial and cultural inhabitation.\r\n\r\nEmerging from an intricate understanding of parallel world systems, where cultural dynamics are not merely observed but performatively dismantled, Parekh\u2019s aesthetic strategy constitutes a fundamental archaeology of gesture. She recuperates and transforms objects, motifs and performative actions that were historically deployed to marginalise and stratify, transmuting them into nuanced instruments of critical refusal.\r\n\r\nSejal has an MA in Sculpture from Royal College Art, London.
