Gl\u00f2ria Picazo<\/strong>\r\n\r\nVoldria iniciar aquesta presentaci\u00f3 de la mostra \u201cArran de terra\u201d d\u2019Isabel Banal agafant en pr\u00e9stec la idea de l\u2019escriptora coreana Han Kang amb qu\u00e8 inicia el seu llibre \u201cBlanc\u201d. Un dia l\u2019autora decid\u00ed escriure sobre coses blanques i, per comen\u00e7ar, davant de la p\u00e0gina en blanc, el primer que va fer fou una senzilla llista, on inclogu\u00e9 la neu, l\u2019arr\u00f2s, la sal, el full en blanc... I \u00e9s precisament amb un full en blanc semblant que iniciem la llista de coses blanques que han estat un dels eixos vertebradors del treball d\u2019Isabel Banal: el llen\u00e7, la taula, la llibreta, el pigment, els plats de porcellana, les figuretes de guix, els xais del pessebre... Un blanc a mig cam\u00ed entre una aproximaci\u00f3 sensible, fr\u00e0gil, discreta, fins i tot silenciosa, i un blanc l\u00f2gic, serialitzat, geom\u00e8tric, recurrent, fins i tot matem\u00e0tic, si ho observem des de l\u2019\u00f2ptica anal\u00edtica del fil\u00f2sof Ludwig Wittgenstein i les seves \u201cObservacions sobre el color\u201d. Un blanc que t\u00e9 poc a veure amb els atributs tradicionals atorgats a aquest color \u2014puresa, netedat, innoc\u00e8ncia, bondat\u2014 sin\u00f3 que, en el seu cas, \u00e9s m\u00e9s un blanc destil\u00b7lat d\u2019una s\u00e8rie de temes cabdals en el seu treball: la natura, el paisatge, la cultura popular, el pas del temps, el jo (dona). Seria com un destil\u00b7lat de terra que perd tota aparen\u00e7a original de color i textura per\u00f2 mant\u00e9 intactes l\u2019aroma i el sabor de la terra.\r\n\r\nAl mateix temps hi ha un cert ress\u00f2 de cultura oriental, uns patrons m\u00ednims d\u2019intervenci\u00f3, una atenci\u00f3 en el detall m\u00e9s \u00ednfim, una aproximaci\u00f3 a la natura amb absolut respecte i, planejant per damunt de tota intervenci\u00f3 seva, el rebuig rotund a qualsevol indici d\u2019espectacularitat. I en aquest sentit, no hi podem recon\u00e8ixer trets comuns amb aquest haiku de Basho?\r\n\r\n\u00c9s la meva vida viatgera<\/em>\r\n\r\n llaurar, anant i venint<\/em>\r\n\r\n una parcel\u00b7la<\/em>\r\n\r\nL\u2019exposici\u00f3 no nom\u00e9s reuneix un bon nombre d\u2019obres que posen especial \u00e8mfasi en els temes citats, sin\u00f3 que a m\u00e9s l\u2019artista ha volgut \u201cconvidar\u201d obres d\u2019altres artistes perqu\u00e8 l\u2019acompanyin en el seu projecte. Es tracta, si m\u00e9s no, d\u2019una evid\u00e8ncia, per\u00f2 que tot sovint no es manifesta. Cap traject\u00f2ria art\u00edstica es construeix en a\u00efllament absolut, sin\u00f3 que es basteix a base de trobades reals o imaginades, d\u2019afectes viscuts, d\u2019afinitats compartides, tant personals com professionals. Per aquest motiu, el projecte d\u2019exposici\u00f3 individual s\u2019acompanya d\u2019unes constel\u00b7lacions d\u2019obres convidades que ajudaran a visualitzar l\u2019univers personal i professional que s\u2019ha anat configurant al llarg de la seva traject\u00f2ria.\r\n\r\nPer tancar aquesta introducci\u00f3, val la pena rec\u00f3rrer a dos grans creadors de la cultura catalana que de ben segur podem recon\u00e8ixer com una lat\u00e8ncia subtil en el treball d\u2019Isabel Banal. Moltes de les seves propostes em fan pensar en Joan Mir\u00f3, quan afirmava \u201cjo treballo com un jardiner\u201d, o quan confessava que l\u2019energia per pintar l\u2019aconseguia aferrant els peus a terra. I tamb\u00e9 en J.V. Foix i els seus \u201cpoemes de pedra\u201d, realitzats gr\u00e0cies a les troballes naturals, tot caminant pel Cap de Creus. Gl\u00f2ria Picazo<\/strong>\r\n\r\nQuisiera iniciar esta presentaci\u00f3n de la muestra Arran de terra de Isabel Banal tomando prestada la idea de la escritora coreana Han Kang con la que da comienzo a su libro Blanco. Un d\u00eda la autora decidi\u00f3 escribir sobre cosas blancas y, para empezar, ante la p\u00e1gina en blanco, lo primero que hizo fue una sencilla lista en la que incluy\u00f3 la nieve, el arroz, la sal, la hoja en blanco\u2026 Y es precisamente con una hoja en blanco semejante como iniciamos la lista de cosas blancas que han sido uno de los ejes vertebradores del trabajo de Isabel Banal: el lienzo, la mesa, la libreta, el pigmento, los platos de porcelana, las figuritas de escayola, los corderos del bel\u00e9n\u2026 Un blanco a medio camino entre una aproximaci\u00f3n sensible, fr\u00e1gil, discreta, incluso silenciosa, y un blanco l\u00f3gico, serializado, geom\u00e9trico, recurrente, incluso matem\u00e1tico, si lo observamos desde la \u00f3ptica anal\u00edtica del fil\u00f3sofo Ludwig Wittgenstein y sus Observaciones sobre el color. Un blanco que tiene poco que ver con los atributos tradicionales otorgados a ese color \u2014pureza, limpieza, inocencia, bondad\u2014, sino que, en su caso, es m\u00e1s bien un blanco destilado de una serie de temas esenciales de su trabajo: la naturaleza, el paisaje, la cultura popular, el paso del tiempo, el yo (mujer). Ser\u00eda como un destilado de tierra que pierde toda apariencia original de color y textura, pero mantiene intactos el aroma y el sabor de la tierra. Al mismo tiempo hay un cierto eco de cultura oriental, unos patrones m\u00ednimos de intervenci\u00f3n, una atenci\u00f3n en el detalle m\u00e1s \u00ednfimo, una aproximaci\u00f3n a la naturaleza con absoluto respeto y, planeando por encima de toda intervenci\u00f3n suya, el rechazo rotundo de cualquier indicio de espectacularidad. Y en ese sentido, \u00bfno podemos reconocer rasgos comunes con ese haiku de Basho?\r\n\r\nEs mi vida viajera<\/em>\r\n\r\n arar, yendo y viniendo<\/em>\r\n\r\n una parcela <\/em>\r\n\r\nLa exposici\u00f3n no solo re\u00fane un buen n\u00famero de obras que ponen especial \u00e9nfasis en los temas citados, sino que adem\u00e1s la artista ha querido \u201cinvitar\u201d a obras de otros artistas para que la acompa\u00f1en en su proyecto. Se trata, cuando menos, de una evidencia que no siempre se manifiesta. Ninguna trayectoria art\u00edstica se construye en un aislamiento absoluto, sino que se teje a base de encuentros reales o imaginados, de afectos vividos, de afinidades compartidas, tanto personales como profesionales. Por ese motivo, el proyecto de exposici\u00f3n individual se acompa\u00f1a de unas constelaciones de obras invitadas que ayudar\u00e1n a visualizar el universo personal y profesional que se ha ido configurando a lo largo de su trayectoria.\r\n\r\nPara cerrar esta introducci\u00f3n, vale la pena recurrir a dos grandes creadores de la cultura catalana, que con toda seguridad podemos reconocer como una latencia sutil en el trabajo de Isabel Banal. Muchas de sus propuestas me recuerdan a Joan Mir\u00f3, cuando afirmaba \u00abyo trabajo como un jardinero\u00bb, o cuando confesaba que obten\u00eda la energ\u00eda para pintar con los pies arraigados en la tierra. Y tambi\u00e9n en J. V. Foix y sus \u00abpoemas de piedra\u00bb, realizados gracias a los hallazgos naturales, mientras caminaba por el Cabo de Creus. Gl\u00f2ria Picazo<\/strong>\r\n\r\nI would like to begin this presentation of Isabel Banal's exhibition \u201cArran de Terra\u201d by borrowing Korean writer Han Kang\u2019s idea, which inspire her to write \u201cThe White Book\u201d. One day, the author decided to write about white things, and to begin, in front of the blank page, the first thing she did was a simple list, in which she included snow, rice, salt, the blank sheet of paper, etc. And it is precisely with a similar blank sheet that we begin the list of white things which have form the backbone of Isabel Banal's work: the canvas, the table, the notebook, the pigment, the porcelain plates, the plaster figurines, the lambs in a nativity scene, etc. A white halfway between a sensitive, fragile, discreet, even silent approach, and a logical, serialised, geometric, recurring, even mathematical white, if we observe it through the analytical lens of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein and his \u201cObservations on Colour\u201d. A white that has little to do with the traditional attributes of this colour; purity, cleanliness, innocence, goodness, but which in this case is more a white distilled from a series of key themes within her work; nature, landscape, popular culture, the passage of time, the self (woman). This white would be like a distillate of earth that loses all original appearance of colour and texture but which keeps the aroma and flavour of the earth intact. At the same time there is a certain echo of oriental culture, minimal patterns of intervention, a focus on the smallest detail, an approach to nature with absolute respect, and, hovering above her entire intervention, the resounding rejection of any hint of spectacularity. And in this case, do we recognise common features with this haiku by Basho?\r\n\r\nOn life\u2019s journey<\/em>\r\n\r\nplowing a small field<\/em>\r\n\r\ngoing and returning<\/em>\r\n\r\nThe exhibition not only brings together a fair number of artworks which place special emphasis on the aforementioned themes, but also, the artist wished to \u201cinvite\u201d other artists artworks to be part of her project; evidence of need, that is not always manifested. No artistic career is built in absolute isolation, but rather is built on the basis of real or imagined encounters, of lived affections, of shared affinities, both personal and professional. For this reason, the individual exhibition project is accompanied by constellations of guest artworks which will help visualise that personal and professional universe which has been shaped throughout her career.\r\n\r\nIn conclusion to this introduction, it is worth turning to two great creators of Catalan culture, who we can certainly recognise as a subtle latency in the work of Isabel Banal. Many of her projects make me think of Joan Mir\u00f3, who stated \u201cI work like a gardener\u201d, confessing that he got the energy to paint by keeping his feet on the ground. Also with J.V. Foix and his \u201cstone poems\u201d, made using natural discoveries while walking around Cap de Creus; two new possible guests to an imaginary meeting.\r\n\r\nGl\u00f2ria Picazo\r\n\r\n
