BETA Contemporary

BETA Contemporary was founded in Berlin in diaspora by Venezuelans with a mission to support conceptually driven artistic practices that engage with multiple cultures, contexts, and disciplines. From its outset, the gallery has been committed to creating a space where artists are encouraged to take risks, question traditional ways of working, and examine the shifting relations between identities, mediums, and geographies.

Its program centers on exhibitions that consider the gallery a site for spatial and conceptual transformation. Artists are invited to develop projects that respond to architectural, cultural, or historical contexts and examine the dynamics of translation, hybridity, and evolving creative frameworks. This approach supports a wide range of artistic languages, from installation and conceptual inquiry to more traditional modes of practice.

Since relocating to Barcelona in 2024, BETA has strengthened its commitment to projects that address the complexities of movement, memory, and contemporary artistic practice. The gallery maintains a rigorous, internationally oriented program shaped by migration, cross-cultural exchange, and global perspectives, and provides a context in which these ideas can develop with clarity and long-term support.

Since 2025, the gallery has also founded Lenta, an artist residency created with Casa Pardal. Lenta fosters experimentation and sustained artistic research, offering artists a setting for conceptual inquiry free from the pressures of commercial production. Each cycle bridges urban and rural contexts and culminates in a presentation at BETA Contemporary and within the local community.
