Presentation of the publication Rehearsing a Place by Merlina Rañi

Rehearsing a Place is a hybrid artifact that uses tools from fiction and journalism to create perspectives from which to observe the conditions in which we live and explore a space of agency within this context.

A hacked robot-dog smuggled into the guerrillas of the Global South, satellites conversing in orbit, or the lament of a ghost-fan in a lithium salt flat are some of the protagonists of these five speculative stories. The publication is structured in a modular and dialogic format, with symbols that interconnect the stories and form a narrative with multiple entrances and exits, both to deconstruct it and to play with it. As a reading key, a theoretical essay —Aesthetics of Infrastructure— accompanies the narratives and examines the aesthetic signals of contemporary geopolitics.
