Contactar exposicions — Contactar vidres enfrontats
Joint activity between the exhibitions Informal Kindness (Fabra i Coats: Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona) curated by Pilar Cruz and Sumari Astral (Fundació Joan Brossa) curated by Caterina Almirall with the collaboration of Clàudia Elies, about the artwork Contactar vidres enfrontats by Luz Broto.
This meeting between the curators, the artist and the participants in the project aims to bring together the people, both friends and strangers, who made the work possible, and to share with the public, experiences and materials from the project’s realisation process, which moved through different neighbourhoods of the city of Barcelona from 2022 to 2024.
The activity will start at Fabra i Coats at 11.00 and after a talk, we will travel by public transport to Fundació Brossa where the event will conclude with drinks and snacks. We look forward to seeing everyone.

Two exhibitions are currently being held in Barcelona that share an artwork by artist Luz Broto: Contactar vidres enfrontats. The complete installation, with six pairs of window panes in contact, is on display at Fabra i Coats and, at Fundació Brossa, a small pair of window panes is exhibited. The panes of glass are from neighbouring windows in the city of Barcelona, close to each other but unknown.
The two exhibition projects have different curatorial proposals, but the coincidence makes us think about the signalling of some sort of Zeitgeist, of interests shared by people who form part of the artistic, cultural and life context of a place and time. What we most likely have in common is, in truth, more than what separates us, or perhaps, what separates us is a lack of knowledge and distance, rather than our differences. The urban space can be a place where the multiple can coexist.
We can read this convergence as an occurrence that explains something about our time, about how we view, consider and build this context; about the importance of seeing what we share and, ultimately, of understanding work in art from a more sociological viewpoint, as a system, as a process that is common and which has more to do with practices of a time – their references and concatenations – as a whole than with the precepts of originality and genius by which the arts are still judged.
Therefore, the activity, ultimately, proposes doing what the artist does: bringing together the two institutions that gather, among others, the work of Luz Broto. To bring them together, to conspire to shorten the distance between one and the other.
