Delirar o racial - Davi Pontes & Wallace Ferreira

To think about time is to think about our relationship with spectral presences. In this sense, temporal linearity itself can be a ghost that still haunts us: it preserves hierarchical and violent structures, limits our perception and our modes of action. It is from this premise that, in “Delirar o racial” (2021), Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira propose a choreography that is outside the arrow of time, fusing theoretical thought and movement in a practice of self-defense. Rejecting the image of a single, self-sufficient figure, they reflect and refract each other, producing symbolic deviations from the bodily dynamics of power assertion and repression programmed by the State.

Delusional about time—as it was inaugurated by modern thought—would already be a form of delusional about race, if we think that the origin of the concept of human difference and, therefore, of race comes from this same thought. Infused with the words of philosopher Denise Ferreira da Silva, the movement of their bodies describes a universe in which difference is not a manifestation of an insoluble estrangement, but the expression of an elemental entanglement.
