“Despois do incendio”, by Eduardo Valiña

The work of Eduardo Valiña (O Páramo, Lugo, 1972) cannot be understood without the contextualisation of the landscape and reality of Galicia, a territory where the earth aches despite its immanent presence. His discourse revolves around rurality, land, identity and the sense of belonging, exploring complex and tactile relationships with the land and exposing the fragile balance of a nature subjected to exploitation and economic interests. With a perspective that oscillates between melancholy and incisive critique, his body of work is often built through interventions in the natural environment, subsequently documented and transferred to the exhibition space as a testament to the environmental and cultural tensions that shape his creative universe. Valiña plays with this tension, laden with symbolism, inviting the viewer into a reflection that arises from disruption—and perhaps a certain discomfort.

With Despois do incendio, Valiña proposes a primal journey that shifts between concealment and revelation. Through harsh metaphors and a staging charged with dramatic tension, the exhibition evokes the blend of damp earth, the feeling of loss and the force of resilience.
