Spreading the Last Land. Miquel Matas Ferrer

The artist Miquel Matas Ferrer presents for ART NOU the ending of the project L’ÚLTIMA TERRA. The project is based on an investigation that takes as a case study and pretext the last stocks extracted from the so-called Remei clay, a type of white clay that was extracted in the area around La Bisbal d’Empordà in the eighties and nineties of the last century. Likewise, the extinction of a clay that is rarely used and is no longer extracted can also be understood as a metaphor for our consumption rhythms, the fragility of natural resources and the supremacy of the anthropocene. From this research work, the artist proposes a series of visual, objectual and performative approaches that, at the same time, speculate on the possible destiny of this last earth.
