Edu Comelles and Néstor Calderer: 304558

At some point between 6 and 8 p.m. on 29 October 2024, at number 18 Lepanto Street in Paiporta, a Schimmel baby grand piano with serial number 304558, owned by musician Néstor Calderer, was lying upside down. The force of the water lifted it one metre off the ground and, immediately afterwards, when the water depth exceeded two metres, it fell over. 220 kg of wood and metal floating in a brown whirlpool.”

This project by Edu Comelles and Néstor Calderer is a sonic and conceptual exploration of resilience, both on a personal and collective level. The dialogue between the drowned piano and an acoustic piano is the central axis of the project: two instruments, two opposing sound worlds, two voices that meet and converse.
