El balcó, 2024. Performance with two gegants in Plaça dels Àngels

El balcó tests the relations between architecture and power by means of a (grotesque) fictionalisation of how balconies have been used as a feature of political discourse. Two ‘gegants’ engage in a dialogue using gestures, sounds and dancing. One of them leans out over the balcony on the main façade of the MACBA, while other remains at ground level in Plaça dels Àngels. The character’s design is based on drawings made during a workshop conducted by Jordi Colomer with kids from the Casal dels Infants del Raval, a centre for children and youngsters who live near the Museum where the activity is taking place.
