Escenes quotidianes 2. Marcià Codinachs

To create an inner world… parallel to reality and at the same time critical of it. A world that is coherent with myself, with my personal evolution. I say “inner” because for me everything is internal, because with my paintings I feel in touch with myself. It’s not that painting opens a window to the world for me, no! On the contrary, I paint from the outside inwards. What you see is my interior self. Reality is fleeting, elusive. What remains are the traces in each person. In fact, this is the great dilemma between reality and the inner world, two parallel worlds. Are both true? Obviously not; the external world is changing and fleeting, and no one sees it the same way, whereas the inner world is completely true and unique.

I wanted to gather in this exhibition four pieces that show this early tendency towards interiority: The House of AvignonThe House of the RiberaPlaying Cards in Marrakesh, and A Bad Night. Along with a couple of commissioned works: Abudja Market, and The Sarjah Mosque.

I also present four totally unpublished pieces. Two perspectives from the PFC of architecture, and the two drawings that made up the project presented at ILAUD (Urbino). The four pieces were made by four hands with Enric Miralles. Also, The Lonely Child, one of my first paintings (1970), and in memory of my mother, one of her landscapes.
