Voice school
Inscripcions Obertes! The School of Voice is conceived as a laboratory for the investigation of phenomena related to the voice within Contemporary Art. The school wants to delve into the knowledge of the voice as raw material, instrument, device and space for experimentation of proposals that investigate the aerial conditions and the emotional possibilities of the voice.
In this edition, the Voice School is testing an intensive day model with two workshops that will take place on October 10 and 11 at La Capella. The workshops will be with Ute Wassermann and Elena Aitzkoa.
The two workshops work in a dialectical way, and registration is made for both sessions, occupying Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
Maximum capacity of 20 people.

The artistic practice of Elena Aitzkoa (Apodaka, 1984) includes sculpture, drawing, poetry, performance and film. Her creations form a diverse ecosystem that draws from the physical and emotional elements of her environment and life experiences, focusing her energy on the poetic configuration of matter and beauty as elements for connecting beings.
Elena uses singing and breathing in her performances to articulate her voice and outline new ways of listening to ourselves and gliding together with the air.
Her projects include Ur Aitzak (2022-2024), as an associated artist with Azkuna Zentroa; Headscarfs Close to the Ground, as part of Oslo Pilot (2016); the film Nuestro amor nació en la Edad Media (2018), and the vinyl record of poems and whistles Paraíso terrenal (2019).

Ute Wassermann
Saturday 11 October, from 10 am to 1 pm.
Ute Wassermann is a German vocal artist, composer and performer internationally recognized for her radical research on the voice. Her practice moves between experimental music, performance and sound arts. Her voice transcends the conventional limits of singing, creating soundscapes that oscillate between the natural, the electronic and the unimaginable.
Ute Wassermann is a German vocal artist, improviser and composer who radically explores the possibilities of the human voice by integrating it with objects, lo-fi electronics and soundscapes. Her practice encompasses performance, installation and vocal experimentation.
A constant, radical exploration of the voice lies at the heart of her work. Her seemingly otherworldly singing transcends the conventional human voice, producing sculptural, multidimensional sounds oscillating between the electronic, animalistic, inorganic and human.
She has worked with renowned contemporary artists and ensembles. Two of her notable collaborations are: Speak Easy (with Phil Minton, Thomas Lehn and Martin Blume), an experimental vocal improvisation group, and ElectrovoX (with Thomas Lehn and Richard Scott), exploring the fusion of voice and analogue electronics.
Some of her most important presentations include her performances at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Donaueschinger Musiktage, two of the most prestigious contemporary music festivals.
She has developed a broad catalogue of vocal expressions that has inspired improvisers and composers throughout the world. In her workshops – often described as a liberating experience – she works from improvisation to choral composition.
