THE COLLECTOR IS PRESENT - Finestres
Álvaro López Lamadrid is an art collector and a friend of Senda since the gallerys’s beginings, as well as a great admirer of Anna Malagrida’s work. In parallel to the exhibition of her work at the Tàpies Museum, the gallery is showing one of her photographs from the series ‘Vitrines’ (‘Aparadors’), taken in 2008-2009. One of the characteristic elements of Malagrida’s work is the use of the window as a metaphor: from the inside to the outside and vice versa, her work always explores the frontiers between public and private space. And this will be the starting point for the encounter between collector and artist.
‘I’m interested in the intuited spaces on the other side, what isn’t in the image, but is imagined. What lies beyond, outside the frame, is the place that activates the imagination, inventing a story or imagining a space. The things we intuit, which are on the other side, belong to the story or to the space itself. Through the metaphor of the window, I’m trying to create a space of in-betweenness and uncertainty’.
