Fluff Dry. Dani Reynolds

On February 28th, Dani Reynolds opens the doors for a public showing of a new work in progress, after two months of residence at Homesession. The exhibition will be open from 6pm to 9pm.

Fluff Dry takes its name from the dog grooming term which means – the process of using a dryer to blow air into a dog’s coat while simultaneously fluffing the hair to create volume and fullness.

A Lamborghini parked outside the supermarket sports a metallic rose; a Shih Tzu in pigtails is pushed in a pram; the curtains whimper. These scenes form the basis of an installation which draws on surrogate materials and an accumulative process of cladding to present a series of toy electric cars shifted from their original function.

Dani Reynolds  (b.1989) is an interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of absurdity and sincerity. Their creative process utilises ‘not knowing’ and failure as desirable states from which to develop new work. Experimentation, humour and collaboration are key to the development of paintings, sculpture, performance and moving images.

The Dany Reynolds Residency has received support from The Ian Potter Foundation.
