Johannes de Silentio in "Inventar_iar. La vida que no passa", by Ester Ferrando
Inscripcions Obertes!A sound activity conceived expressly for the exhibition “Inventar_iar. La vida que no pasa” by Ester Ferrando: a dark performance by Johannes de Silentio, one of the alter egos of Ishak Benavides, Barcelona composer, sound artist, DJ and head of the online radio station TeslaFM.
Benavides began his career as a composer of electronic music 19 years ago. Under the name Lucius Works Here, he developed a harmonic and melodic facet in the line of experimental ambient, indietronica and minimalism. But his full entry into the world of sound art and the most radical experimentation from 2016, made him create another project that dissociates itself from LWH, using different tools such as analog synthesizers, four-track, pedals, sampler and cassettes, to advance in live improvisation. He calls this project Johannes de Silentio, and will present a hypnotic and repetitive piece using sustained note techniques, practices typical of the drone environment. The work is entitled “If not, winter” inspired by Anne Carson’s book that collects the only fragments of poems of the Greek musician and poet Sappho (630 BC).
