Laura Juanós "La forma de lo ocurrido"
The Sala de les Golfes of Casa Canals welcomes for the first time the work of Laura Juanós (Vila-seca, 1989), within the framework of the exhibition program of Mèdol Center d’Art Contemporani. The artist works between architectural ambiguity, between the domestic and the institutional sphere, between what remains and what is transformed, she naturally dialogues with an artistic practice that makes liminal space its territory of operation.
La forma de lo ocurrido is an installation that explores the transformation of the architectural into the sculptural —and vice versa— seeking to inhabit the intermediate point where neither of the two categories completely imposes itself. The pieces relate to each other in a game of ambiguities: they wink at each other and at the same time turn their backs, constructing an unstable balance that places the viewer in a position of imbalance and vulnerability. Juanós’s discourse refers to action, the way of doing, of acquiring materials, of occupying a space, it speaks more about the human condition than about the will to dominate matter. Background and figure exchange roles of power as the visitor progresses from room to room. What was support becomes protagonist; what seemed protagonist recedes. Nothing is fixed. Everything has happened—and continues to happen—dialogues circularly with actions that nourish each other.
Trained in design at Elisava University and in jewelry at EADT, Juanós holds a master’s degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon (ENSBA, 2025). Her career has taken her to spaces such as Halfhouse, the Swab fair or Talente (Munich), and her work has been recognized by Arts FAD with the work Límit: essència de l’objete.
