Ni arte, ni artesanía, arte_lin. Fernanda Laguna
We are very happy to invite you to the opening of Ni arte, ni artesanía, arte_lin (Neither art, nor handcraft, “cute-art”), the first exhibition of Fernanda Laguna (Argentina, 1972) in Barcelona.
Laguna is one of the most renowned artists of her generation, and recognised for questioning the hierarchies between art and handcraft. The exhibition brings together a repertoire of paintings and hybrid objects characterised by their approach to the simplicity of manual work, giving rise to a series of pieces that combine pictorial, utilitarian, and decorative elements.
Through arte_lin (“cute-art”), the artist proposes to erase the boundaries between the artistic and the day-to-day, transforming it into something beautiful, shared, and close by highlighting the ‘discarded’ beauty of everyday objects.
From painting to writing, her work is conceived as a space of encounter that not only questions established artistic canons, but also manifests itself in her literary corpus. From her alter ego, Dalia Rosetti, Laguna explores a direct and close language, far from erudite complexity.
This exhibition, and its parallel activities programme, is an invitation to look in a different way, to discover beauty in the imperfect, and to think of art as a space of relationships.
Exhibition curated by Mª Laura Ríos.
