Poetry, Typography and Mass Communication. Josep Iglésias del Marquet
The painter, art critic, visual poet and journalist Josep Iglésias del Marquet (1932−1989) is key to understanding the penetration of concrete poetry into Catalonia in the late 1960s and was also one of the pioneers of mail art during the period he spent training in Scotland and Canada. He was especially active in the seventies. Following his return to Barcelona, he worked with Guillem Viladot at the Lo Pardal publishing house and created a large number of collages and visual poems on two of his greatest interests, typography and mass communication.
This small display is intended to focus precisely on these two themes, which are essential to understanding the multifaceted poetry of this author as seminal as he is unknown to the general public.
