collective listening sessions with pantea

In this session, pantea shares work-in-progress pieces created within and for the Khamoosh community. It begins with a performance-conversation woven from the sounds of migrating birds across Eurasia, streamed to the Khamoosh community—extending the space from here to there, and from there to here (which is part of a research project pantea is developing at la escocesa as part of the CREA grant using streaming). The second half invite listeners to reflect on the agency of listening, and the listened-to.

The SEC (Sesiones de Escucha Colectiva) are a space to experience deep listening from a physical dimension. More than just hearing, it is about collectively inhabiting the practice of listening as a tool for connection, reflection, and sensory exploration.

Guided by guest artists, each session offers sound journeys that invite attentive, immersive, and expanded perception of sound.

CLS arises from the desire to pause and share a moment of listening, expanding our perception of sound beyond the audible and generating a collective sound experience from the body.

bio

pantea (b. 1992, Tehran) is an artist and writer from Iran whose practice explores how sound translates ecological connection, collaborative survival and the unheard. Her work spans listening, walking, writing, cooking and making – things, relationships and forms of hospitality. She is especially drawn to wetlands, plants, especially the Sundew. She is a member of Khamoosh – a community archiving Iranian sonic heritage through everyday sounds. Her broader work has been performed and exhibited internationally. She is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD in Music at St George’s, University of London. More recently, she has been navigating the slow violence of immigration systems – and thinking through how struggles across different contexts connect.
