Snurpunkt

Pigment Gallery is pleased to present the new exhibition by artist Jorge Hernández, entitled “Snurpunkt”. This exhibition offers a fascinating exploration of the recent thematic and stylistic shift in Hernández’s work.

For the past two years, Jorge Hernández captivated audiences with his series of works depicting women immersed in virtual worlds, using VR headsets as a symbol of digital immersion. These pieces, laden with symbolism and reflection on human interaction with technology, established Hernández as a visual chronicler of the digital age.

However, in 2024, a transformative trip to Greenland marked a turning point in his career. Struck by the majesty of the Arctic landscapes and the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights, Hernández found a new source of inspiration in nature. This shift is reflected in his most recent work, where the Northern Lights take center stage, capturing the essence of the sublime and the ephemeral.

“Snurpunkt” (“turning point” in Greenlandic) offers visitors the opportunity to appreciate this remarkable artistic transition. The exhibition brings together pieces from both periods, allowing the viewer to experience the contrast and evolution in Hernández’s vision. From technological introspection to the contemplation of nature, each work is a testament to the loneliness and isolation of human beings and the transformative power of art and personal experience.
