Stabat Mater. Marina Sagona

Stabat Mater is a project by Marina Sagona about motherhood and separation. A poem-film delves into loss through the refracted, reframed, repeated gaze. On 15 occasions, the camera pulls back from a portrait of the artist, painted by her former husband, while the image is enlarged each time and the conversation he has with their daughter is heard in the background. Each of these fragments is a new look of desire, defiance, and loneliness.
