Te amo. Yo tampoco. Lucía Morón
In Te amo. Yo tampoco (I Love You. Me Neither), Lucía Morón examines the ideas and expectations surrounding romantic love and marriage, reflecting on how certain social, cultural and family expectations continue to shape the desires and aspirations of many women.
The project explores the persistence of a romantic ideal passed down from one generation to the next. Wedding photographs, with their familiar gestures, settings and conventions, reveal the continuity of established ways of representing love and relationships. These images are accompanied by references drawn from popular culture and the family environment, including princess stories and the idea of Prince Charming.
Through a combination of family photographs and self-portraits, Morón creates a dialogue between different generations, confronting these inherited ideas with a contemporary perspective. Te amo. Yo tampoco ultimately reflects on the cultural construction of desire and the continuing influence of romantic love as a model for relationships, questioning what is often presented as natural, inevitable or universal.
