THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH (AND OTHER LIES)
Artists Nathalie Rey and Ece Haskan transform La Plataforma into a surreal fairground where illusion and truth collide. Drawing from the aesthetics of carnivals and sideshows, their works invite visitors to play, peek behind the curtain, and question what’s really on offer. From Rey’s ironic reimaginings of childhood fantasy to Haskan’s provocative explorations of faith, power, and spectacle, the exhibition reveals a world both festive and unsettling — a reminder that in the great fair of life, we are all players, targets, and sometimes even the prize.
Nathalie Rey (b. 1976, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France)
A French multidisciplinary artist based between Barcelona and Istanbul, Rey’s practice blends irony, metonymy, and absurdity to explore memory, ecology, consumerism, and the parallels between personal and collective histories. Trained as an architect at the École d’Architecture de Versailles, she later earned degrees in Literature (University of Barcelona) and Fine Arts (Escola Massana), as well as a postgraduate in Documentary and Artistic Photography (IDEP, 2025).
Ece Haskan (b. 1997, Istanbul, Turkey)
An Istanbul-based artist whose surrealist paintings, sculptures, and installations explore identity, belief, and collective memory through play and irony. A graduate of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Graphic Design, Haskan’s works have been exhibited internationally, including at Illustroweek Belgrade, NFT NYC, and the Blockchain Futurist Summit in Toronto. Her illustration was selected for the Cheltenham Illustration Awards & Annual (UK, 2023).
With The Greatest Show on Earth (and Other Lies) , La Plataforma continues its dedication to boldness that invites dialogue. Visitors are welcome to step into this carnival of illusions, where nothing is ever quite what it seems.
