A little invitation. Rubén González Bonilla
A little invitation, an exhibition by artist Rubén González Bonilla, in collaboration with Gema Pinedo de Pedro, curated by Enrique O. Romero at the RocioSantaCruz gallery.
The exhibition stems from a dialogue between Rubén González Bonilla and the work of Ouka Leele. As its name suggests, the exhibition is a small gesture yet to come: an almost ghostly presence that emerges in continuity with the works of the previous exhibition. It is not about occupying the space, but rather activating it from its remnants, its echoes, its traces.
In the gallery, the works unfold from different points, as if probing the gallery’s boundaries, investigating the wall and the supports that hold it up, entering into dialogue with what has already happened. The space ceases to be a container and becomes a body traversed by the works.
This proposal seeks to conjure the space in a different way: as a place of conversation, where the pieces do not close in on themselves, but rather respond to one another, brush against one another, and activate one another. In this context, young or emerging art should not be understood solely as a starting point or a momentary validation.
This invitation is along those lines; it seeks not so much to interpret as to inhabit, to approach Ouka Leele from the most minimal, from those gestures that are almost invisible.
