Malpaís

Malpaís (mal.pəˈis)

1. m. Geol. Recent lava field, with a tortuous, sterile and arid surface. Also the lava itself that forms it.

2. m. Territory in the novel «Brave New World», by Aldous Huxley. Huxley’s
Malpaís consists of a reserve where a population coexists outside the hypertechnological dystopia.

3. m. Independent exhibition and artistic production space founded by artists in 2020, located between the Marina del Port neighborhood and the Zona Franca, Barcelona. The main focus of the project is an annual public program that includes exhibitions, events and workshops. Its curatorial line promotes and supports collaboration between different generations of artists, and establishes links between the Spanish and international cultural context.
