Sala Josep Uclés
Sala Josep Uclés is a contemporary art space in Badalona dedicated to the exhibition, dissemination and promotion of contemporary art. It supports current artistic creation and fosters connections between artists, the local context and the public. Since its opening in 2014, the space has developed a programme aimed at showcasing different forms and languages of contemporary artistic practice, with a particular focus on emerging artists and locally based artistic production.
With 685 m² of exhibition space, the contemporary art space aims to provide an open environment for research, experimentation and dialogue, helping to position Badalona within the contemporary art landscape while fostering new connections with the region’s artistic and cultural fabric. Its programme combines exhibitions by artists at different stages of their careers with projects that explore the relationship between art and the debates and transformations shaping contemporary society.
The space is named in honour of Josep Uclés (Badalona, 1952 – La Roca del Vallès, 2013), a Badalona-born artist associated with Neofiguration and known for his distinctive, imaginative and symbolic visual universe. The Sala Josep Uclés thus maintains a connection with the city’s artistic heritage while looking towards contemporary artistic creation and new artistic languages.
