⚡︎ Horses. Kepa Garraza

The Horses series traces the history of equestrian portraiture through modified versions of some of the genre’s most iconic works, similar in technique and scale to the originals save for one substantial change: the removal of the rider. This absence transforms each piece into a reflection on the representation of power and its visual codes.

Horses examines how power achieved through military supremacy has been visually legitimised over the centuries, and how that symbolic language, despite now seeming anachronistic, remains relevant today.
