This “reader” accompanies an installation with the same title that Émilie Ferrat and François Girard-Meunier presented at the Brno Biennial in 2016, and includes texts by Stephen Knott and Michel de Certeau. Both deploy an extensive historical and critical analysis of amateur artistic practice, focusing on the “coloring book” format that emerged in the United States in the fifties of the twentieth century.
