With Pilar García Elegido and Pepe Miralles + screening of the film ‘Stigma’

 

As part of the MORTALES+ exhibition, we invite you to the screening of the documentary film “Estigma”, accompanied by a presentation by its director, Pilar García Elegido, and the testimony of Pepe Miralles, a multidisciplinary artist who has focused much of his work on HIV.

 

Pepe Miralles

Xàbia, 1959. He has explored two topics in depth: the social perspective of HIV and AIDS, participating in activist groups and producing cultural and visual content; and sexuality in public spaces, documenting both the use of cruising spots and the life stories of those who use them.

Pilar García Elegido

Madrid. Director, producer and cowriter of the documentary short films Confluencias (Goya Award 1999 for Best Documentary Short Film), Positivo and Ventanas (Goya Award Nominees 2000 and 2017, among others. From 2003 to 2019 responsible for the film department of the Government of Madrid. She has directed festivals such as Short Film Week and coordinated professional meetings, workshops and film events. She writes fiction and has recently published the photobook Social Distance.

Stigma

Does HIV stigma still exist? Experts and people living with HIV answer this question. One of the participants is Josep María Tomás, who starred in POSITIVO, a documentary nominated for a Goya Award and winner of multiple awards, in 2000. ESTIGMA revisits the issue 25 years later.
