Artificial. Jordi Gispert

Conceived as an installation, the project Artificial highlights the tension between the industrial and the handmade. The work is built around aluminium, an artificial material shaped by hand by the artist using hammering techniques.

The process of creating the pieces, based on repetition, concentration and physical effort, is an essential part of the work. Each blow of the hammer leaves a mark. The metal surface preserves the memory of a patient action that transforms an industrial material into a sensory experience.

Through this manual process, the artist reflects on the relationship between people’s vital energy and the artificial world we construct. The exhibition invites viewers to observe this tension between the natural and the artificial, and to reflect on its presence in everyday life. To reinforce this approach, the work Esquema Mural incorporates words and graphic elements that help contextualise the project within the installation as a whole.

Through an aesthetic experience, Artificial creates a space for contemplation that invites us to reconnect with what is essential, in contrast to the complexity and overstimulation of the contemporary world.
