AzkonaToloza & amigues - Un día de veinticinco horas - IF Barcelona
One performance
and two press conferences.
Three hours of relaxed cumbia
and four double americano coffees.
Five yellow pills
and six meals.
Seven guided tours,
one in English.
Eight hours time difference with Luisa
and a few less with Luis.
Nine sets,
all recycled.
Ten times you’ll say “was this all really necessary”
and eleven times we’ll say “there’s still a lot needed before we’re done”.
Twelve leftover scenes
and thirteen poems.
All of them unedited
all of them kind of everyday
all of them middling to bad.
Fourteen instructions.
The first says:
Before setting out on a new journey, you have to hide out at home to gather strength.
The second:
You have to take it easy.
The sixth:
in order to avoid uncomfortable silences
you have to have a few bad jokes ready.
Total number of bad jokes, fifteen.
Total number of uncomfortable silences, sixteen.
Seventeen is how old she was when she went off to London
Seventeen is how old I was when I left the desert
Twenty one she was when she crossed the Atlantic
Twenty one I was when I crossed the Andes
But of course, those data belong to a different list.
Let’s go back to 17.
No, let’s not, let’s go straight to twenty.
20:00 is the time it starts
and 21:00 the time it ends.
And more or less twenty two are the friends
we’ve roped in for this.
As twenty three is your number, you decide.
Twenty four are the hours in a regular day.
Twenty five is today.
