Barcelona, arquitectures de paper – Pavelló Mies Van der Rohe
This workshop offers an introduction to architecture through the assembly of a 1:300 scale cut-out model (1 cm = 3 m in reality), allowing participants to understand the building’s volumetry and formal organization within the Eixample block.
The model consists of two A3 sheets folded to A4 format with pre-cut pieces, plus a third sheet including the base and a visual assembly guide. The pieces are detached and folded along the marked lines before being glued together.
The cut-out is structured in five independent blocks with varying levels of difficulty. As a final element, the vertical slats of the main block are added, requiring greater precision and patience.
The workshop will be led by Fernando Jiménez Parras, architect and designer of the model, who since 2013 has created more than twenty paper models of significant architectural works.
