What will Barcelona be like a hundred years from now?

In 1926, the film Metropolis imagined what a city would look like one hundred years into the future—our present day. Now that this future has arrived, we propose carrying out the same exercise of imagination, looking ahead to the year 2126.

In this workshop, we will work collectively with images of Barcelona from one hundred years ago and contemporary postcards of the city, transforming them through drawing and collage. In this way, we will hack the official image of the city, layering it with new layers of fiction to imagine what it will look like, who will inhabit it, and what life will be like in the Barcelona of the future.

Activity as part of Homesession’s Ex-Libris programme, in collaboration with Biblioteques de Barcelona.
