Is there a clear relationship between fitness and agricultural production? This project reflects on the contemporary paradigm of performance and productivity in human and non-human bodies through discipline, transformation, and control. Cross can be translated as to cross, traverse, or run across fields, and here it functions as a hinge between the imagery of the gym and that of agriculture through artistic production and popular memory rooted in working the land.
The project questions the normative discourses surrounding hyperproduction in order to open up spaces of resistance, with other possible bodies and other agri-food memories that make life possible.
