Data de retorn. Els temps del cos

Data de retorn is a performative proposal from the Santa Mònica Body and Movement Laboratory on the awareness of time through the body and movement. The piece stages the multiple temporalities that inhabit the body and makes visible the rhythms, memories, expectations, accelerations and transformations that shape human experience.

The performance is presented in dialogue with the exhibition Boom Crash Candy Crush, which examines how everyday technologies inscribe ideologies onto bodies and blur the boundaries between work, leisure and militarisation. If during the First Industrial Revolution workers’ bodies were synchronised with the rhythms, machines and architectures of the factory, today this mechanisation operates invisibly and ubiquitously through the fusion of the body and its devices.

In this context, Data de retorn presents how technological rhythms, care systems and the constant production of data affect the perception and bodily experience of time. In the face of the acceleration, repetition and synchronisation imposed by screens and their algorithms, the piece proposes listening to the body’s other tempos: those of breathing, tiredness, the pause, memory, waiting, dislocation and recovery.

Through dance and bodily experimentation, the proposal understands the body as a space for recording, but also as a territory of resistance. Becoming aware of one’s rhythms, recalibrating or interrupting them can become a way of questioning the functional fluidity of militarised attention economies. Data de retorn thus invites the public to reflect on the instants that discipline the body, the instants it preserves, and those it can still recover, invent or return.
