Del natural. Photographs from the Museo Universidad de Navarra Collection 1840-1939

Marking the bicentenary of Nicéphore Niépce’s first photograph, Panoràmic presents a journey through the first century of photography, featuring a selection of works from the Museo Universidad de Navarra Collection. The exhibition brings together examples of the medium’s earliest techniques — from daguerreotypes, calotypes and albumen prints to silver bromide papers — and explores how photography transformed the representation of reality through portraiture, architectural documentation, landscape and the reproduction of works of art. It also examines Pictorialism, represented by figures such as José Ortiz Echagüe, the photographic experiments of the avant-garde, and the emergence of modern photojournalism through works by Agustí Centelles and Robert Capa, offering an overview of the evolution of photography between 1840 and 1939.
