Tuesday of video / “Prova: assaig: error” A la recerca de noves vies d’experimentació

In 1931 Edward Lee Thorndike formulated the principle known as the ‘Law of Effect’. It is a heuristic method of gathering knowledge in which one chooses and tests different possibilities for an unknown that one encounters along the way, sees what alternatives it offers and chooses the optimal option on the basis of the results. The empirical basis of this principle, which is the hallmark of scientific research processes, is also undoubtedly the essence of creative processes: opening up possibilities, projecting solutions and experimenting with available tools and resources, discarding what does not work until a solution is found, until a solution materialises. Or perhaps even, with an open mind and willing to experiment, to realise during the process that in the end, the best solution was a mistake. A mistake that becomes a success full of intention and poetics.
