The exhibition "Un cocodril sota el meu llit"

The exhibition Un cocodril sota el meu llit delves into ultralocal humor, the kind that only resonates with those who share a common culture. Starting from the idea that humor is local, generational, and contextual, this show explores how specific cultural codes and hermeneutics —the art of interpretation— are essential to grasping the comedy of a joke. Without these elements, the joke loses its power, as illustrated by the cryptic and Lacanian joke of Slavoj Žižek that inspires the exhibition’s title.

The exhibition includes pieces of black, traditional, and scatological humor, raising profound questions: is humor a subversive tool that challenges the social order, or on the contrary, an escape route that helps us endure reality? Reflections by philosophers like Sigmund Freud, Alenka Zupancic, Umberto Eco, and Milan Kundera guide the analysis, exploring laughter as a mechanism of emotional liberation and as an act of resistance.

From this perspective, Un cocodril sota el meu llit invites reflection on humor as a cultural, psychological, and philosophical phenomenon, and its role in our understanding of society and ourselves.
