Floquet: revisitar una icona. Oscar Moya Villanueva
Floquet de Neu (Nfumu Ngui) was an albino gorilla from Equatorial Guinea who became a symbol of Barcelona. Through the intervention of archival images and the use of materials such as glass and paraffin, which are present in the animal’s biography, the project refers to his colonial origins and the instrumentalization that turned him into a key figure within the city’s popular imaginary. The artist explores the political constructions, power interests, and collective amnesia surrounding Floquet’s figure, making a final visit to move away from the affectionate and nostalgic image that he himself absorbed during childhood.
