Empowerment workshop for self-management, aimed at introducing the basic self-learning tools needed to understand and manage invoicing and taxation in artistic practice.

We will discuss how the self-employed system works, including registration and deregistration with the Spanish Tax Agency, the most common industry-specific tax categories, tax brackets, and how to register and deregister with Social Security through the IMPORTASS platform.

We will also explore how to prepare budgets and electronic invoices, how personal income tax (IRPF) and value-added tax (VAT/IVA) work, applicable tax exemptions, and legislation related to the Artist’s Statute.

Led by Amanda Cuesta, an independent curator, art critic, and editor. She has worked as a self-employed professional for two decades and, from 2013 to 2026, was a worker-member of La Caníbal SCCL, a cultural management cooperative. For the past four years, she has delivered tax training for artists on behalf of PAAC (Platform for Artists’ Assembly in Catalonia).
