And, Suddenly, Chance. Uncertainties, Destinies, and Coincidences in the MACBA Collection

This is a traveling exhibition organized by the Visual Arts Program of the Barcelona Provincial Council, in collaboration with MACBA and the participating municipalities. The exhibition aims to bring contemporary art closer to the public, facilitate access, and foster reflection, creativity, and critical thinking.

Curated by Claudia Elies, the exhibition explores the concept of chance from different perspectives through works by Joan Brossa, Luz Briti, Joana Cera, Joan Jonas, Teresa Margolles, Martin Llavaneras, Fina Miralles, Joan Ponç, Sergio Prego, Enrique Ramírez, Allan Sekula, and Oriol Vilanova.

The exhibition invite visitors to reflect on the uncertainties, destinies, and coincidences that are part of our experience, discovering different ways to understand and interpret contemporary art. The exhibition also incorporates accessibility resources and services to ensure an inclusive cultural experience.

As a new feature, the exhibition includes a participatory creation project, led by Pep Vidal and A Bao A Qu, aimed at locals groups. The initiative seeks to promote everyone’s participation in culture and transform municipal exhibition halls into spaces for gathering, experimentation, artistic creation, and community life.
