Guided tour of the exhibition "And, Suddenly, Chance," with Claudia Elies
The guided tour of the exhibition *And, Suddenly, Chance: Uncertainties, Destinies, and Coincidences in the MACBA Collection*—led by curator Claudia Elies—will take place on Wednesday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Sala Josep Uclés at the Carme Cultural Center (Badalona).
This guided tour offers a unique opportunity to delve into an exhibition that invites reflection on three universal concepts: uncertainty, destiny, and chance. Through works by contemporary artists such as Joan Ponç, Joana Cera, Teresa Margolles, Joan Brossa, Fina Miralles, Joan Jonas, Allan Sekula, Luz Broto, and Sergio Prego, the exhibition explores our relationship with what we seek to control versus what inevitably slips beyond our grasp. The tour also incorporates literary references to Ausiàs March, as well as elements like water—featured in several works—which serve as symbols of the power of nature, desire, and the unpredictable.
Rather than offering a single, definitive interpretation, the exhibition invites each visitor to forge their own connections, discover new meanings, and be surprised by the various artistic approaches on display.
