Kònic Thtr & Lab – Arquitectures de píxels i memòria
TUESDAYS OF VIDEO with Rosa Sánchez and Alain Baumann
This session presents a selection of outstanding video creations of architectural mapping projects carried out by Kònic Thtr & Lab, accompanied by a commented presentation by Rosa Sánchez, which invites the public to approach the processes, concepts and contexts of the works.
Kònic Thtr & Lab has developed several architectural video-mapping projects that explore the building and the urban space as narrative supports. These audiovisual interventions transform façades and architectural structures into dynamic projection surfaces, integrating sound, image, data and digital systems. Kònic’s mapping projects propose new forms of relationship between architecture, memory, technology and community, and situate the practice of video mapping in a critical exploration of the memory of the building and its socio-cultural context, beyond the purely spectacular dimension.
Screenings of video creations
Timescape Interplay (2025, 8-min segment) (360° video)
With immersive mapping, the work transforms the architecture of the Baroque cloister into a living canvas that reveals the passage of time through light, form and sound, from prehistoric symbols to the ornamental splendour of the Baroque and the luminous geometry of the luminaries.
Project by the Academy of Fine Arts of Lecce (Italy), within the framework of the PNRR D.I.A.R.Y.
Vue du phare (2019, 8-min segment)
Inspired by Casablanca’s maritime lighthouse, this video-mapping proposal shows scenes of the city and its history and culture through the eyes of the lighthouse, a symbol of the future and a metaphor for light as the driving force behind Morocco’s technological, cultural and social progress.
Casablanca International Video Art Festival / Soirée Epson, Morocco.
Torre dei sogni (2015, 8-min segment)
It is an audiovisual poem projected onto the Forte della Maddalena (Garibaldi Tower), an important architectural monument in the city of Alghero (Italy).
It is a small tribute of dreams that take us back to the Neolithic world of stone, to its goddesses and warriors, to the masked faces of the Mamuthones or to the delicate diversity of costumes with which the Sardinian people want to adorn themselves.
European project I AM (International Augmented Med) ENPI-CBC MED.
Hypernature (2015, 8-min segment)
This audiovisual work was projected on the medieval citadel of the ancient port of Byblos (Lebanon). A poem that shows some of the symbolic elements of the culture of this ancient Phoenician city. The alphabet, the colour purple and the sea are the keys that will take us from the present to the history of the city of Byblos-Jbeil.
European project I AM (International Augmented Med) ENPI-CBC MED.
Processus (2014, 8-min segment)
Video mapping on the façade of the old hospital of Santa Caterina, which houses the Territorial Delegation of the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Girona (Catalonia).
An audiovisual composition that combines symbolic elements of the building with historical elements related to hospital practice or the use of medicinal plants for healing. Life and death and spirituality converge in the DNA of this 17-th century building, an important part of the architectural heritage of the city of Girona.
