Kris Ubach | When They're Not Saints

Exhibition of photographs of Les Santes 2024

Kris Ubach (Barcelona, ​​1974. Lives and works in Mataró) was
the photographer chosen by the Les Santes Image Commission to take the photographs during the 2024 festival and present them in the M|A|C hall during Les Santes 2025.

The last page of the Festa Major program announces the countdown for the next Les Santes to arrive, and the website also activates a counter that, second by second, counts down the days and hours until the Call begins, on the 25th.

Kris Ubach wanted to capture this counter with his exhibition proposal: the people of Mataró are waiting all year for the days of Festa Major to arrive, at all hours, everywhere. Kris says that we santeros and santeras evoke the party, the pyrotechnics, the groups, the dances and music, the rituals, every day of the year, when we step on the Riera del Desvetllament, when we are at the market, when we sunbathe, or while we see the Christmas lights.
